'Insight into a how people are reacting to the tragic events of 3.11. As you know, I originally come from Britain, an island about the same size as Japan, and with an equally rich history and tradition of manners and culture. I feel that there is a natural kinship between our islands. We both live on islands that have... so much potential to make use of the power of the ocean itself, and other clean energies to provide our energy, yet small fluctuations in energy production costs cause our governments to make terrible short term choices. As terrible as the events of 3.11 were, I hope with all my heart that the Japanese people will show the rest of us how to build a better society that lives in harmony with the world around it, rather than in a constant battle to dominate the force of nature. If any people has the spirit and determination to show us a way to a better future, it will be the people of Japan.
